The schedule will have 8 straight
14-hour days with a total of 7-10 company visits; see the
March 2007 calendar for
a past schedule. Students are encouraged to research
companies to visit. It's your GBE.
Visits during the past GBEs included
Wizzit, Rural Home Loan Fund,
Rand Merchant Bank,
GoldFields, BMW,
ABSA,
South African Reserve Bank, US
Embassy, Fairview, Kuyasa Fund,
Home Loan Guarantee Corp.,
SAB Miller, International Finance Corp,
KWV,
Institute for Healthcare Improvement,
Sanlam, arrivia.kom,
Milkworx, Sun City, Innovation Hub, Mittal Steel, Boehringer
Ingelheim, Graffiti Design, De
Beers, Entabeni, and Renaissance

Deliverables will include (i) pre-trip group presentations one evening in February,
(ii) top-notch participation during all company visits, and (iii) group
presentations on the final evening of the GBE. Each component will have
an equal weight in the final grade. For (i), pre-trip presentation
topics will be assigned; the goal is for the group to gain background
knowledge of today's South Africa. For (iii), potential presentation
topics will be discussed in early 2008.
Partners are welcome provided they (i)
pay the full GBE fee, (ii) fully participate in all deliverables (e.g.,
fight for air time during company visits, present during pre-trip and
final day presentations), (iii) submit a resume and statement to me, and
(iv) get my approval.
