COURSES
BIOGRAPHY Professor of Business Administration Marian
Chapman Moore teaches First Year Marketing, FY Marketing Research, and
Marketing Strategy at Darden. Her research focuses on emotional responses to
advertising, and marketing managers’ decision-making processes. Her current
advertising-related research is funded by the Virginia Tobacco Settlement
Foundation (established by the Master Settlement Agreement). Professor Moore
and colleagues at UVA and William and Mary are examining the role of emotion
in youth’s reactions to anti-tobacco advertising. On the marketing strategy
front, her current research focuses on how managers account for competitors
when making strategic marketing decisions. “Strategic Thinking about
Competitors: Evidence from Executives,” was just published in Marketing
Science. In addition to teaching and research, Moore is the Academic
Director of Darden’s new MBA for Executives program.
