Darden Library Databases:

The following databases may be accessed from the Library's Website at http://intranet.darden.virginia.edu/library/databases.asp

Bloomberg (Library workstation in the Capital Markets Room) 

Bloomberg offers access to an enormous amount of information on all types of investment vehicles including stocks, bonds and government instruments.  The information, for both foreign and domestic companies, includes current and historical prices, company descriptions and fulltext of newspaper articles.  Includes country data from the EIU. 

Datastream Advance (Library workstations ?limited to one user at a time) 

Datastream Advance (Thomson Financial) provides daily historical pricing information for U.S. and international securities (debt and equity) and market indices. The database also includes macro economic information from a variety of sources including national governments, International Monetary Fund and OECD. Data may be printed or downloaded.

EMDB (Library workstations)

S&P’s Emerging Markets Data Base covers 54 markets and more than 2,200 stocks.  The database contains the latest figures for all S&P indices -- Global, Investable, Industry, and Frontier -- and market data such as prices, corporate actions, and stock ID information.  Three levels of data are provided: comprehensive data on individual stock covered in all markets; data series for each index computed; and data series for each market covered.

Factiva 

Generally used for news and journal articles, Factiva includes company information from exchanges around the world.  Also included is a source called EIU Viewswire, which provides outlook/forecast and overview data for countries. 

International Financial Statistics

The IMF’s IFS database includes thousands of time series covering more than 200 countries and areas. Includes all series appearing on the IFS Country Pages; exchange rate series; major Fund accounts series; and most other world, area, and country series from the IFS World Tables. 

ISI Emerging Markets

ISI Emerging Markets provides current, comprehensive country and company information, from over 150 sources, for emerging markets in Asia, Eastern Europe, and Latin America.  The content, arranged by country, includes economy reports, country profiles, economic statistics, exchange rates, local investment banking analyst reports, news from major newspapers and financial sources, stock exchange reports, company profiles, company financial reports, daily stock quotes & stock histories, company rankings, and legal/regulatory information. (1994 to present.) Updated daily.

World Federation of Exchanges

The World Federation of Exchanges, formerly FIBV - International Federation of Stock Exchanges, is the trade organization for regulated securities and derivative markets, settlement institutions and related clearing houses, and their diverse services to capital markets.  The site includes links to publications and to annual, monthly, and times series data for the member exchanges.

A monthly publication from Standard & Poors, with data, charts, graphs, and more. 

Global Stock Markets Factbook (Reference Room HG5993.A2 E44)

An annual publication from Standard & Poors covering the world’s markets and providing a wealth of data, chart, graphs, and more.
