Welcome to the Alliance Doctors web
site at the Darden School at the University of Virginia.
The research, cases, and various diagnostics are all
representative of an on-going research program that began over five
years ago when the team first assembled.
Our cases, papers, books, and research surveys and different
diagnostic tools have been used by academics, business practitioners, and
governmental officials around the globe.
Our goals are to further the state of knowledge and practice as
it relates to alliance-like behavior and to disseminate that knowledge
in a managerially useful and conceptually rigorous manner. Several times a year we offer an open enrollment executive
seminar on alliance management that has attracted alliance managers
from every continent. Our
work runs the gamut from partner selection to alliance formation to
developing mechanisms and strategies for alliance dissolution.
We address topics related to technology licensing, outsourcing
and buyer-seller relationships, joint ventures to interimistic
alliances that tend to reflect the rapid changes facing companies that
compete in the e-commerce space or others markets where change occurs
at a very fast pace.
